From the folks who bring you the Texas QSO
Party, the Northwest Amateur radio Society of
Houston, comes a new
contest - the Texas State Parks On The Air
(TSPOTA) contest the first full weekend in
April, 2013.
TSPOTA gives Texas Hams an opportunity to
get ready for the ARRL Field Day exercise,
get outdoors after a long winter,
and have some radio fun while enjoying the
beauty of the Texas State Parks. Texas Hams
operating from one of
the 99 Texas State Parks on the approved
parks list will give the 4 letter designator
and RST. Texas Hams not
operating from a State park will give RST and
TX as the designator. All other Hams will
give RST and their
State/Province or DX as their designator.
Full rules and a list of parks as well as
list of operations that
plan to be active can be found at the
official website, http://tspota.com
From the TSPOTA Committee, we would like
to extend our appreciation for your
participation in the First annual Texas State
Parks On The Air contest. You will
be part of TSPOTA history and our hope is
that it will be a long and rewarding
one.
The TSPOTA contest was conceived with
three main goals in mind: to promote
public awareness of ham radio and Texas'
beautiful state parks system; to
contribute to the recognition that Texas has
a very diverse and wonderful
ecology; and to promote camaraderie within
the ranks of Texas Amateur
Radio operators. It is with your
participation that we believe those
goals will be achieved.

The Lake Area Amateur Radio Klub will be picking this up for 2017 and perhaps going forward. I am the chair in charge of organizing this event. If anyone has the rules from previous years kindly send them to me. Thank you.
