Being new to contesting, I'm still confused on multiplers. I understand that there are certain QSO's you're trying to get - but how does the multiplier work and how do you figure your total score?

It depends on the contest. With computer logging software I don't usually pay attention to mults or the score, as I am not in the contest for blood, just fun. The contest sponsor take the submitted logs and figures out the mults and the final score.
Question for ARRL SS CW.
I occasionally look at DX Summit for spots but don't pay much attention during a contest. Is there a recommended website for looking at SS activity? I hope to provide NE mult to lotsa stations.
